What is VIN code?

The long number (VIN) on the dashboard is the vehicle identification number or VIN. All car manufacturers in the world give each vehicle a unique number, which is an important information coding option.

The code is called the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) or the Vehicle Manufacturer Identifier (WMI), but the principal principle is the same. A long line of numbers and letters is like tree trunk yearrings, it informs us about the age, manufacture and characteristics of the vehicle. A code of 17 letters and numbers gives you much more information about a particular vehicle.

What is VIN code is not shown on car auction?

Publishing a VIN code at an advertisement enhances the confidence of the seller. The lack of information in the advertisement, however, does not immediately imply fraud. The reason may be considerably simpler, for example, the technical passport was not available at the time of entry. So it’s a good idea to ask for the VIN code, and the honest seller publishes it. However, if the publication of the VIN code is circumvented for various reasons, it should be taken as a sign of danger.
